January 21, 2026 — Finite State is excited to welcome Chris Overton as Executive Vice President of Engineering, strengthening the company’s leadership team as it accelerates AI-driven innovation and helps customers meet increasingly stringent global cybersecurity regulations.
Chris brings more than 20 years of engineering leadership experience and joins Finite State at a critical stage of growth, as device manufacturers face increasing pressure to ship faster while meeting requirements such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act and other emerging security mandates.
Chris is a seasoned technology executive with a proven ability to scale high-performing engineering teams by removing friction and increasing execution consistency. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology Officer at Coin Metrics, where he led technology vision and execution, building robust, scalable software and infrastructure for institutional-grade crypto data intelligence.
Previously, Chris held senior engineering leadership roles as VP of Engineering at Elastic and Mattermost, supporting the growth of globally distributed teams and platforms trusted by enterprises worldwide. His earlier experience includes engineering leadership at AVG Technologies and multiple security-focused startups.
At Finite State, Chris will lead engineering execution and technical strategy, focusing on increasing development velocity, unlocking capacity across teams, and applying AI throughout the development lifecycle to deliver secure, scalable solutions for connected device manufacturers.
